About
I’m Ryan. This is my blog.
That is not a very good introduction.
I’m a guy who lives in Toronto. I studied journalism in University, but the only thing I learned is that I did not want to be a journalist. I spent a while working as an editor (because of/helped by anal-retentive spelling and grammar senses), then shifted to web content management stuff.
This blog is my outlet for my various opinions, commentary, and random thoughts. I like comic books quite a bit, so I write about them fairly often. Sometimes I write about movies, tv shows, books, and music. I tend to like stuff that’s off the beaten path, a bit unusual, or generally quirky. For the most part, I write about stuff that I like, because it’s much more fun than complaining about things.
I still have my snarky and cynical moments, though.
Sometimes I write about politics. Usually, it’s local politics, particularly the City of Toronto’s dreadful approach to cycling infrastructure. You may not care about those posts very much.
I’m not exactly sure where the title Metamorphostuff came from. It’s more inspired by Kafka’s Metamorphosis than anything to do with Metamorpho the superhero. I just like the sound of it.
This WordPress blog is using the Melville theme. (Smashing Magazine has a nice rundown of some great, free themes.) I use some handy WordPress plugins that make blogging easier & more fun:
- SEO All-in-One – sort out your meta-data and help people find what they’re looking for.
- WP Touch – creates a simple mobile-friendly version of your blog.
- Tweet This – let users tweet your blog entries, and auto-tweet your own content.
- Clean Archives – creates an easy-to-use archive (something I find annoying to do in WordPress; it’s one thing I miss about Movable Type.)
